Anywho, I was wondering if anyone knows how long they are made to last for? I don’t want to give her a few hundred bucks then have it break in a couple months. Most dSLR cameras can last over 10 years, but most people buy a new one every five years or so due to the advancing of technology.
The 100,000 shutter cycles is how many times camera companies test them, not when they are expected to fail.
I have a colleague that has two Nikon D3′s. They are tested to 300,000 shutter cycles, but one of his failed at over 700,000 cycles and the other one has over 1,000,000 cycles on it and it is still working fine
